Puamana means "spiritual flower", a title given to an everlasting beauty. These tiny, naturally colored shells, are special not only because of their rarity, but also because of the people who make it possible for them to become one of Hawaii's finest and most cherished shell jewelry; a product of patience and love. People from remote areas of the Pacific gather these shells, clean them and prepare them for finishing here in Hawaii. These are people who bring beauty and joy to the public and who can reach civilization only through their work. For them, it is a source of livelihood. For us, it is a part of our culture, and a treasure for now and for generations to come.
Our models are the mother and daughter team who are responsible for the production and manufacturing of these gems of the sea. The yellow shell lei choker consist of three strands doubled over. The green shell lei consist of six strands twisted together and gracefully draped down our models back.
All strands are 30" in length. The yellow, green and off-white shell leis sell for $42.00 each ($25.00 each for orders one dozen and above). The coral and beige shell leis sell for $36.00 each ($20.00 each for orders one dozen and above).
Wear these lei's in your own way - doubled up to shorten them as shown, to bring attention to your face; or full length to add an elegantly, slimming line to your body.
A favorite of hula dancers and Hawaiian musicians, the look suites all body types, and adds elegance to the attire.
In the islands everyone from teens to Tutu's (grandmothers) love them with everything from casual to formal wear - try them with: (1) a white shirt, jeans & cowboy boots; (2) a business suit; Hint: Men - they make great birthday, xmas, Valentine's, Mother's-Day, and anniversary gifts!
